If you've been reading this blog, then you know that I travel A LOT. I love it, obviously. And if I can combine that with wine and food, then even better. Since I was young, I've always kept a travel journal - just for me. This was long before we could take thousands of pictures on our phones. During one of those trips, I scribbled down some notes in my journal to better remember my harvest experience in Jumilla, Spain. I never knew that I'd use them to enter Jancis Robinson's annual wine writing competition. Well, here is the result:
Every year, there are hundreds of entries. I am so proud (and still in shock) that mine was one of them chosen to be published!
I'll let you read the story, but my experience at Bodegas Viña Elena was one I'll never forget. Elena, her family, the region, and the wines are just out of this world! I hope you can visit there someday, but in the meantime, look for the wines here in the Twin Cities or online.
Still pinching myself! :-)
