WSET In-person Level 3 in Wines (Tuesdays, March-May, 2025. Exam: June 14, 2025)

This is an advanced level qualification for professionals working in the wine industry and for wine enthusiasts.
It is for individuals seeking to delve deeper into the world of wines, this qualification provides a detailed understanding of grape growing and winemaking. Upon completion you will be able to assess wines accurately, and use your understanding to confidently explain wine style and quality. Upon successful completion you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin, and will be able to use the associated WSET certified logo.
What you'll learn:
Unit 1:
- The key factors in the production of wine: location, grape growing, winemaking, maturation and bottling
- How these key factors influence the key characteristics of the principal
- still wines of the world
- sparkling wines of the world
- fortified wines of the world
- How to apply your understanding to explain wine style and quality
Unit 2:
- How to taste wines, describe their characteristics and evaluate their quality, using the WSET Level 3 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine® (SAT).
Please read the Level 3 Specification under the Information tab of our website for detailed information on the course structure. It is strongly recommended that you pass WSET Level 2 in Wines before taking Level 3.
Course delivery:
This qualification has a minimum requirement of 84 hours of study time, including 30 hours in the classroom and the rest as self-study.
Tuition: $1,495 includes text, exam, and wines sampled in class. Study pack provided after registration; this will be mailed to you.

Location: University Club-St. Paul (420 Summit Ave.), Room TBD.
Dates: Tuesdays, March 4, 11, 18, 25. April 1, 8, 15, 22, 29. May 6, 13, 20. Exam on Saturday, June 14, 2025.
Time: 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm (some sessions may go until 9:30 pm, depending on content)
Learner tools: Bring 6 wine glasses (with stems) each week and also use those for the final tasting exam.
Exam: Unit 1 is assessed by a closed-book exam of 50 multiple-choice questions and a written, short-answer essay. Unit 2 is assessed by a blind tasting of two wines. Date: June 14, 2025. Time and room TBD.
Optional: WSET-based tasting group meets on Monday evenings—inquire for more information.
Exam will be ordered at least 3 weeks before the final exam, this means if you have to cancel your exam for any reason, you will have to pay for a future rescheduled exam. Cost: $300.00.
